I Feel So Special
August 8th, 2005 | by Scott |I’ve been tagged for the first time. So here goes (for those who might actually be interested in reading trivial information on my life):
1. What were three of the stupidest things you have done in your life?
Getting involved in a toxic relationship years ago.
Accepting a youth minister’s position at a church I didn’t belong at instead of waiting a few weeks for a better fit.
Leaving ministry for a year and a half in 96/97
2. At the current moment, who has the most influence in your life?
Obviously God but He most used that influence through the presence of Chloe, Cassie and Shayla.
3. If you were
given a time machine that functioned, and you were allowed to only pick
up five people to dine with, who would you pick?
OK, stay with me here. The very idea of a functioning time machine means that I would have the opportunity to shape and influence the course of history.
So the first choice is Jesus. Then it would be Stalin and Hitler. Think about it, if those two faces of evil were to personally encounter the divine could it have changed two of the greater atrocities of the last century? Sure worth a shot, eh?
The last two would be the OT prophet Hosea–a man who loved and married a hooker. And he loved her anyway and took her back when she succumbed to her old life. My favorite depiction of grace in Scripture.
And finally I would have to pick up Tracy. I wouldn’t want to be a part of such a potentially history making meal without her. Besides, with the other four, we would be pretty insignificant and be able to talk to one another.
4. If you had three wishes that were not supernatural, what would they be?
That a legitimate and viable third-party would be constructed in American politics for those of us who are sick of the non-choices that currently plague our society.
That we would commit more to developmental assistance and less to making war.
That my girls will know Jesus.
5. Someone is
visiting your hometown/place where you live at the moment. Name two
things you regret your city not having, and two things people should
avoid.
Not having: A mall with a play area and cooler weather.
Avoid: The misconception that Waco is only a place that witnessed the Branch Davidian fiasco and the Baylor basketball murders. There is so much more to this town than two negative events. Also, avoid the desire to start your own church. We have enough, thank you.
6. Name one event that has changed your life.
Becoming a dad

OK, how would that seating arrangement go? I don’t want to sit next to Stalin. Or Hitler. Can he bring Ava? Maybe we could chat. If I sat next to Jesus, what would I say? Can I sit next to you and Jesus? That’s a good seat!

I say you sit next to Jesus and Tracy. It’s pretty much where you are already so you’d be comfortable enough then Jesus can deal with Hitler on his own on the other side.

Nice TAG - and thanks for asnwering my call. I can’t imagine all those people together in one room sitting around chatting, and I gotta side with Tracy on this one. Sitting next to Stalin and Hitler at any one given dinner party is enough to really wreck your day.
