Stuff
October 12th, 2005 | by Scott |Are my comments turned on? Awfully quiet on my favorite stuff post.
Anyway, moving on. I don’t really get this tag but here it is:
1. Go into your archives.
2. Find your 23rd post.
3. Post the fifth sentence or close to it.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions.
“See how you do.” This is a reference to my favorite on-line game, Crickler. It’s a great take on the classic crossword. Fun stuff.
Other stuff:
- My fantasy team took a huge blow this weekend. Lost my stud running back for the year. I thought I had lost my game this weekend as well. Needed a 40 yard field goal to win. Got it with 6 seconds to go. But it’s not looking good for the rest of the year.
- Watched Coach Carter last night. Worth a look-see.
- I’m still working on my favorite protest songs of all-time. I’m up to about 48 tracks. Any suggestions?
- Some people from my tribe, the Churches of Christ, are working on an update of the classic MISSION magazine. Should be interesting. And provocative.
- Is anybody besides me sick of the propagation of fear in our society? Bird flu. Terrorist threats. Etc. Yeah, I get it. It’s a bad time to be alive.
- On my way to take Chloe to the doc. Hopefully, she will get her new cast today.
Talk to me.

I personally blame the media for it never ceasing fearmongering of the ‘bird flu’. I wonder if they are in the pocketbook of the makers of the flu vaccine to create widespread panic and a mad rush for the flu shot (which we did get today b/c of MB’s kidney situation, and have gotten every year since he was born).
I get sick of it. My mom is FREAKED about the bird flu and MB. She cried on the phone. I told her to go read Psalm 91 because that is what I claim for my family regarding the “bird flu”. God’s grace is sufficient. Am I careful, you betcha! but I am not gonna wring my hands and cry. I will protect as I always have but refuse to give in to the panic.

I’m all for handwashing clinics as opposed to massive lines for injections. By the way Soap is magic…works good on poop too!
Not so scared of the flu, I’ve decided to leave the terrorists to others to worry about, so really all I have to worry about is the fact that my wife is STILL beating me in fantasy football.
Is it legal to pick protest songs that are protesting protest songs?
Ok, Scott. I’ve made the leap. Please know that I hold you mostly responsible.

I hope “provocative” is the worst term ever used to describe what we’re trying to do, but I doubt it will be. We are preparing for the inevitable onslaught of nasty emails and character assasinations, but we truly believe that there are conversations that need to take place, and right now there is no place for them.
Thanks for the plug…drop by any time!
