500 Miles

October 13th, 2005 | by Scott |

Make that 502 miles to be exact. I achieved this afternoon the second of my two running goals for 2005 (I did a 10 mile run about a week ago).
What made today especially sweet for me is that I did it while pushing my two oldest daughters in our jogging stroller. Since they were my original source of inspiration to get off the couch, I was honored to share that moment with them.
My goal for the year was 500 miles. I dreamed about 750 but I don’t think there is enough of the year left for me to reach that mark. Should be closer to 700.
But next year–1000 miles and my first marathon.
I love running.

Holy Roller turned Holy Runner, eh? :) I am so proud of you! Even if the year ended at this very moment, 502 miles is phenomenal. Congratulations on smashing your goal.

I am so unbelieveably proud of you. Your dedication to being more healthy for us is so humbling and makes me feel so loved. To watch you give up cokes and being a couch potato - two things that you loved deeply - to running and drinking diet pepsi is inspiring.
    I love you too.

PLEASE tell me that was Tracy just before, haha.
Congratulations, Scott! I would love to run, but would probably drop dead after a block.

as narcissistic as I might be, that is Tracy using my account again. We’ve had a talk.
I have a great running plan for you, where you start out running just a few seconds at a time. After two months, though, you can do 3 miles.

Send that running plan to me, too (and any comments on running with a bad knee, as well).

Kinda reminds me of a song from the ’80s…though I don’t think it gained popularity until the ’90s. Keep pickin’ ‘em up and layin’ ‘em down!!!
