Top Ten Tuesday: What I Want For Christmas

November 14th, 2006 | by Scott |

I hesitate doing this because I don’t really get into the Christmas swing of things until it’s ACTUALLY CHRISTMAS TIME! But, I get so many emails from those who read my blog asking me what I want for Christmas and since my wife recently blogged about what she wants, I thought it would be a good time to help you out.

10. iTunes Gift Cards–There is a ton of music that I want to get, but that stuff adds up quickly. This will help me stock up on all the Bright Eyes CD’s that aren’t available on Emusic.

9. DVD Recorder–Right now, I’m planning on braving the Black Friday crowds to pick one of these up for our family. We can free up a lot of space on the DVR if we are able to record the movies we have for the kids.

8. This T-Shirt. jitcrunch.aspx

7. Retro Atari–20 of the original games and 20 new ones. I cut my video-gaming teeth on this 2600. What better way to trip nostalgic then to wield the ol’ joystick one more time? Too bad E.T. isn’t on it.

6. Panini Maker–Since I’m working at home a lot I have to each lunch at home 4 days a week. I’m not much of a sandwich eater, but I love panini’s. This would make lunch more enjoyable.

5. A speaker system for my iPod. Or there is this one that is also a toilet paper holder.

4. Sports Night on DVD–It’s time I own the greatest sitcom of all time.

3. A Home Treadmill–Sometimes it’s hard to get to the Y or even go outside and run. With a good one at home we could cancel our Y membership and I could get a few runs closer to a marathon.

2. Tickets to whatever bowl game the Razorbacks make it to.

1. Amazon gift cards. It’s all about books. This way I could continue to build my library with the latest titles I’m jonesing for.

So, there you have it. You can have any gifts shipped to me at the Northside Church of Christ in Waco, TX. :D
What about you?

I got a DVD recorder about a year ago, and it’s been great to have. I have a collection of most of the Duke games from last year. I’d be happy to send you copies of those :) Seriously, it’s been worth it for me.

One thing I’ve enjoyed having it for is backing up old VHS tapes, especially home video (and, of course, old Duke games from years past). The quality is still VHS, but it’s nice to have a backup.

My wish, which will not be granted yet ($), is an iPod. But perhaps in the near future.

Here’s a totally unrelated question. If I end up moving from Minnesota to Arkansas next year, do I have to become a Razorbacks fan? Will it be safe for me to wear my Minnesota Vikings jersey? Who do people in Arkansas root for when it comes to the NFL?

It would be cool to have a college football team that actually WINS.

Tell Tracy I say Hi. :)

Yes, you have to be a Razorback fan, but nobody will bug you if you wear a Vikings jersey and root for them.
For some unknown reason a lot of Arkansas root for the cowboys when it comes to the NFL. Good taste apparently does not extend beyond the college ranks for my hometown folks.
    Go Steelers.

Great to here from you, Sarah. Congrats on the new addition.

Definetly get the DVD burner, you can get a decent one at Best Buy for around a benjamin.

If you do get the treadmill make sure you put it to where you can either watch TV or look out a window…helps with the mental focus.

Shameless! …maybe I quit blogging to early. Kinda like breaking up before Valentines Day, what was I thinking?

Once I discovered itunes cards, I knew I would never be short of Christmas present ideas again.

Shop Vac. A BIG one. Lots of sucking power.

And more than a DVD recorder, I found a DVD recorder and VCR in one, so you can put all your old movies on DVD. $179 at Best Buy.

Looks like the DVD recorder is my must have item–can’t wait for Black Friday.

Amy, it’s pure selfish pandering. But, to quote Arlo Guthrie, “I’m not proud…or tired.”

It’s not too late to crank up the blog again.

Jason loves getting iTunes gift cards. They make great stocking stuffers!

I once owned a panini maker, but never used it. I’ve heard that an iron skillet with a brick in it does just as well.

The DVD recorder should be a good investment. You can definitely find a good one on Black Friday. You might already know about this site, but if you don’t check it out - http://www.bfads.net. They have listed several stores and their Black Friday sales. Jason and I should really make the jump and get a DVR. Everyone has one!!!

    OK,

A: Sarah is NOT the only cool May Mom.

B: What, no crock pot? Not even a stainless one?

iTunes gift cards are the way to go, man.

Sunny, I want easy. Skillets scare me. And you should definitely get a DVR–how do you live without one?

Lachen, we have a crockpot. That would be on Tracy’s list. She’s more likely to get the crockpot than I am the Panini maker.

Jason, sounds great to me. That, or Amazon gift cards would be pretty sweet.

Don’t let skillets scare you, just take 2 and heat them till nice and hot then place sandwich between and brick on top. In a couple of minutes a nice Panini without an otherwise usless appliance taking up space in the kitchen.

Surprised not to see a 56 inch plasma TV on here, would work nicely with the DVR and such.

I got this recorder from Radio Shack: Accurian All Write DVD Recorder with 80GB Hard Drive

    $199.97

It’s like having Tivo without the monthly fee.

I really want an iPod… a red one. I figure I might be able to justify the money for the red one since some of the proceeds go to Bono’s RED campaign.

Jenny, I love mine. One of the best purchases I’ve made in a while.
