Friday’s Are For Confession: The Food Edition
April 27th, 2007 | by Scott |Because I’m a good catholic boy I thought I would do another round of confession. It’s good for the soul and my blog audience makes for a fine proxy priest.
And I don’t have to get claustrophobic in those little booths.
Today’s confessions are all about food.
1. I only really like one vegetable: Onions. That made for a pretty sparse dating record.
2. I only ate my cereal dry until I was 34. Then again, my cereal was so sugar and marshmallow filled that milk was beside the point.
3. I despise coffee and any other hot drink. Food should be hot and drinks should be cold. Period.
4. On that note, I am absolutely addicted to Diet Coke. And nothing you say or do can stop that.
5. I hate eating at home. If I had my way I would eat out every meal. Except breakfast, that would be too much.
6. I love spicy foods. The spicier the better. The greatest sauce to add to anything is Dave’s Insanity Sauce.
7. Yes, I could eat pizza and hamburgers every meal. My palate has a severe case of arrested development.
8. When I was a kid I made a habit of eating mustard and ketchup sandwiches. That is still brought up all the time. But I refuse to be embarrassed by it.
9. My favorite dessert is basically anything that involves copious amounts of chocolate.
10. I binge eat when I’m stressed.
What about you? What are your food confessions?

My confession: I like to blame my cravings on my pregnant wife.
By Scott on Apr 27, 2007 | Reply
Kenny, blame away. That’s documented fact. I’m still trying to lose my pregnancy weight

My name is Amy, and I am a junk food junkie.
I had chips and queso and Diet Coke for lunch just now. My answer to Terri’s blog questions of the day got me in the mood for Mexican food.

1. I could eat Mexian food at any time of the day, every day, for the rest of my life.
2. I am ironically a Diet Dr. Pepper fan, irony entering in when you super size a meal deal but ask for the diet.
3. Subway is totally worthless as a “healthy” alternative when you eat a bag of doritoes and 3 of their m & m cookies
4. I hate to eat at home too, but that’s mainly because I’m too lazy to fix it, clean it up, prepare it, plan it out, etc.
5. Chips and Salsa should be mandatory free food provided at every sit down restaurant, regardless of whether or not it fits the cuisine.

Oh,and by the way, i’ve never had nor neve plan on drinking coffee. I also despise hot drinks.

Sounds like we all need to get together for some mexican food. I’m down with that.
Kevin, brownies are my favorite dessert.
You guys are making me hungry

I drink milk from the carton so if I have guests, I have to buy a separate carton for their consumption.
Butter and sugar sandwiches are comfort food.
The orange rolls at All Steak have ruined my protein - protein only - diet again today. I ate two.
By Scott on Apr 27, 2007 | Reply
Terri, I drink from the carton too. But I just expect everybody to deal with it.
By Tracy on Apr 27, 2007 | Reply
YOU DRINK FROM THE CARTON!?!?!?
By greg on Apr 27, 2007 | Reply
I’m with Lane on both #1 (all mexican, all the time) and #5 (I live for chips and salsa).

Scott, you might be drinking too many of those 84 ounce drinks in the morning. A good cup of joe would be good for you. Remember when you were at home I kept my partial plates in the cartons to keep you from drinking from them. I guess it didn’t work.

I love coffee in the morning, but sometimes chase it with a Diet Coke.
I thought mustard & ketchup sandwiches were a staple if you were poor (we were…)
Love butter and sugar biscuits!
In the absence of anything else chocolate, I have been known to make a small bowl of cake icing….and eat it!

Ditto on the Mexican and chips and salsa. In fact I pick the restauraunt on whether or not they have good chips and salsa - and Cilantro should be banned from this country.
If it’s in the fridge and I don’t feel like getting a glass I drink from whatever container it is in. Why dirty a glass?

Oh, yeah and when strawberries come into season I throw my body to the edge of being a diabetic. I usually polish off 2-3 pints of strawberries a week along with a about a 1/2 pound of sugar. Too tempting.

Ashamed to say, i’m just addicted to food and it shows. I stress eat all the time and am always stressed.
I just can’t stop.
Even when I do stop I want more. I love the taste of food.
I”m totally ashamed to admit this but better here than on my blog.
I can go for days w/o eating but still choose what is bad when I do eat again.
Food, unlike alcohol, can not be given up. I got over the second hurdle, God have mercy on me on the first.
I don’t want to be this blobby when I hit 40…I have a year and a half to fix my problem.

You are my brother from a different mother. I’m convinced. I hate, HATE, hot drinks. I would love to eat out every meal as well. I, too, could survive on pizza and hamburgers for every meal and I’m absolutely addicted to chocolate!
Keep the confessions coming. It’s good for the soul!

Sometimes I really like the cheap crappy mac-and-cheese from a box, the kind with the neon cheese powder they sell for a quarter ’cause it’s so bad.
By Scott on Apr 30, 2007 | Reply
Tracy, uhh no. I don’t. Not even a little.
Sounds like Mexican food is a hit. Makes me miss living in Albuquerque. That was some good food. It’s sad that when I go to my favorite Mexican restaurant in Waco I get a hamburger most of the time. I love Mexican food but that is by far the best burger in town, folks.
By Scott on Apr 30, 2007 | Reply
Joe, every time the missus balks about going out to eat I’m going to point to our shared genetic code.
I think the confessions will be a blog staple for a while.
And JTB, that’s just gross.

I have been known to eat the powdered mac & cheese straight out of the pan.
…is it obvious that I’m single?

I hate having to eat. I do enjoy some foods, but on the whole, I’d rather someone invented a “magic pill” so I didn’t have to bother.
By Tracy on Apr 30, 2007 | Reply
well as you already alluded to; I hate, no loathe, eating out with the kids. I would rather cook something gross at home and have to clean it than take the kids to a restaurant. I should take my blood pressure while doing nothing, then in the car when it is suggested that we eat out, and again at the restaurant. Nothing stresses me out more. And the food tastes worse and I feel rushed and stressed just being there. Especially if it is a restaurant where we have to get up and get the food like at a buffet.
There’s my little rant.
