Narnia Readers

August 14th, 2007 | by Scott |

I’m going to begin sometime in the next day or so. The first book will be “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.” I decided to go the chronological route because it is what I have done to this point.

So grab a book and discuss.

If you’re reading in chronological order, wouldn’t “The Magician’s Nephew” be first? Perhaps I’m misunderstanding you…..

Are you reading them in the order they were written, or in the order Lewis intended for them to be read?

Either way, you will love them.

By chronological I mean the order that Lewis wrote them.

I think my preference would be to read them as he intended but since this is what I have done up until this point I thought I would keep doing it that way.

Scott: I’m more prone to quote Lewis than to read him. A friend of mine once told me there are C.S. Lewis people and there are Max Lucado people and that I was not a C.S. Lewis person. I guess I’m not even allowed to read him, huh?

Anyway, I am responding more to your earlier blog about embarrassing books. When I was cleaning out my office to move, I tossed about 800 or so books. Actually, I donated them to our annual King’s Kamp parking lot sale. Having my undergrad and graduate degrees in psychology and counseling, I had a few books on human sexuality from grad school days and tried to find them in the sale before someone purchased them as they had some rather explicit photos and drawings that some people might question being in a preacher’s library.

Looking forward to meeting you and your family in Long Beach later this month.

Greg, that’s funny. I have several books that I need to toss. Somewhere I have it in my mind that the value of a preacher is directly linked to the size of his library. But this time there are some books that have to go.
