Moving
October 4th, 2007 | by Scott |I’m a past-tense kind of guy. I love the idea of being moved but the prospect of moving is not one that I am looking forward to. I can’t wait to get to the land of Ponca but all of the stuff we have to do is somewhat overwhelming at this point.
GREAT NEWS ALERT, GREAT NEWS ALERT: CASSIE GETS TO CONTINUE USING SCOTTISH RITE EVEN THOUGH WE WILL BE IN OKLAHOMA. FREE CARE, FREE CARE.
We are going in a few minutes to clean out my office at my old church. Tons of books to load up, good and bad.
Can you guess what my most embarrassing book title might be?
Any moving tips?

Moving is fun, but requires a ton of work. Good luck with all of those books!
So happy about Cassie’s health care! I know that you guys are thrilled.

Cassie is a Mason?
Most embarrassing book… Do you have a copy of Behold The Pattern?
I hate moving. I have sworn (probably impotently) that we’ll hire a service next time. I also swore that we would never move our entertainment center again, and that was two moves ago. You don’t lift that thing–you push down on the earth as it stays in place.

That’s great news on the healthcare, I know all too well just how overpriced it is.
As for the book I’m thinking something from the Left Behind series for kids.

No. I don’t think its theological.
How about “The Way Things Ought To Be”
or
“See I Told You So”

I, too, might suggest “Behold the Pattern,” but there was that book by Leroy Brownlow about “Why I Am a Member of the Church of Christ” that was quite an embarrassment.
Having my graduate degree in counseling / psychology, I had a number of books in my office on sex therapy that would not be good for certain people to see!
Hope the move goes well … we just now are finishing up our move from Long Beach.

I didn’t get to look too closely at the books. I was packing as quickly as possible. I’m glad it’s done.
But Brownlow’s book was at the top of the list. It’s also amazing how many Spiritual Machetes I’ve accumulated.
Justin, Tracy made me get rid of the Limbaugh’s a few years back. Good move.
Greg, the last several times we have moved we have had it done professionally. The last time we even had them come in and back. No stress moving. It was heaven.

Oops, that was from me and not Tracy.

Have moved many times. Throwing things haphazardly into boxes does not work. Best results: 1) Pack each room separately and write the name of the room on the box; 2) Pack similar items together if not designated for any particular room and write the category on the box; and the best tip I’ve found, 3) Make a list of what is in each box (and I mean a thorough breakdown). My boxes are stored in a few different places and that list still helps me find something.
Happy packing!

I still have them. But what’s even more funny than having them is that I’ve never read them. They came out when I was like 5 and 7 years old. I bought them at Thrift Stores, but never got around to reading them.
I also have an autographed copy of a Hannity book that I never read. My dad bought it for me. Like a couple weeks afterward, I decided Hannity was a douche.

Dang! Why I Am… was my guess too.
There’s no good way to move. It always sucks. The best thing we’ve ever done is guilt church members into sharing our pain and toting our heavy heavy boxes. Yay CCfB!

Wow, Debbie. Great ideas. That might tax my organizational acumen but worth a shot.

Osteen. Period. You know you have a copy somewhere…
Happy packing…

Nary a one. I have an Osteen free office. I do have a Lucado book about a “sweet spot” and “the prayer of Jabez”
