In What Some Might Equate With Treason…
November 2nd, 2007 | by Scott |…I’m thinking about switching my blog host to blogger. I like Wordpress and all but I’m just not design oriented enough to do much with it. I’m running 2.0.4. The current version is 2.3.1. .
But the sheer thought of doing everything required to upgrade makes my head spin. And it’s long past time to change the look of my blog but wordpress is labor intensive. At least for me.
Any thoughts from those with their own domains as to which way to go?

Yeah, I don’t know what I’m thinking. Blogger is so…bad.

Have a look a vox

I have no experience with it but have the impression that it might be a happier medium between the freedom/headache of Wordpress/Movable Type/etc. and the cookie cutter of blogger.
On the other hand, I’m not sure it really matters than you’re running an old version of Wordpress (unless there is a security bug or something). I assume it wouldn’t be too hard to switch themes to get a new look without bothering to upgrade Wordpress itself.

I want to keep the domain so it looks like I will switch to a different host that makes upgrading more user friendly.

I like blogger, but I’m also in web design, so I know how to tweak the code to make it do what I want.

I use blogger. I switched to wordpress for a while, but I thought it was more difficult to customize.
If you’re willing to spend a little bit of time tweaking code and using add-ons (I’m by no means a programming or computer language expert), you can end up with something pretty nice.

Wordpress is not as userfriendly, but blogger was a source of constant problems and very, very slow.
