What Should We Be More Thankful For?
November 21st, 2007 | by Scott |Blog posts, newspaper articles and commentaries are full of Thanksgiving articles in keeping with the season. Those writings will be full of things that the writer is most thankful for.
Usually those things follow a pretty precise theme: God, family, country, etc.
I’m interested in knowing some of the lesser things that we should all be thankful for that we might give much thought to. What are the seemingly little things that you think should be given more attention to?
Here are a couple of mine:
1. I am thankful for the discovery of ancient documents such as the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Didache and the Nag Hammadi libraries which enable us to have a greater understanding of the early religious writings.
2. I am thankful for great discussions that acknowledge community at the same time being able to disagree. I love having a forum where it doesn’t matter if you are Republican/Democrat, Just-War/Pacifist, Universalist/Exclusivist, etc. We have discusses so many things without doubting one another’s salvation. That is refreshing.
What else? What should we be more thankful for?

Urban Neighborhoods is one of mine. It delights me to no end that I can walk to a corner store, or too a bar or tredy restaurant, down sidewalks with diverse people, large oaks and maples (that were gorgeous this last week and a half).

What’s the name of the song? Is it on the album of the same name?

The song is “East Nashville Skyline.” It’s on “Peace, Love and Anarchy” a collection of out-takes.

I am thankful that I have no idea what song or singer you are talking about. When it comes to music, ignorance is blissfully silent and peaceful. I know, I might as well post that I hate dogs or that I don’t pray for rain. I do and I don’t (respectively). So there. That’s just the boring kind of rebel that I am.

Shane, I think you are the only person I know who doesn’t like music. What are you going to do at The Grove?
Greg, do I hear Heisman?
