Top 10 Tuesday: What I Want For Christmas

November 27th, 2007 | by Scott |

I battle consumerism as much as the next Joe. So it’s time to dust off the Christmas list. Last year I eventually got 7 of the 10 things on this list.

10. The Office Dundie Award–This would go great next to the Dwight bobble-head that my brother got me for my birthday.

9. Cotton Bowl Tickets–That is where Arkansas is going, right? It’ll be interesting to see a game without Nutt calling the offensive plays.

8. Good Neighbors: The Complete Series–This is far and away one of the funniest shows of all time. I would love to have the whole series on DVD.

7. iTunes gift cards–What says I love you more than the gift of DRM shackled tunes?

6. An Xbox 360–I know that my video-game playing days are largely behind me. And I know I’ll never get this but it would be cool.

5. George Foreman Indoor / Outdoor Electric Grill With iPod Function–How cool is this? You can grill while listening to your iPod? You can even do it inside with no fear of Carbon Monoxide poisoning. What will George Foreman think of next?

4. This Blog made into a book–I’ve been doing this for almost three years and would love to have a quality hard copy of all the posts and comments that have been entered along the way.

3. A trip in January to a major city to watch movies. As some of you know I have seen every Academy Award Best Picture and Best Actor winner. For the past 10 years I have seen all of the major nominees. In a town that has 6 screens my Oscar scholarship dies this year. Unless I can go to Dallas for a couple of days and catch up.

2. Upgrade of my Pastor’s Library Software to the Scholar’s Library. In a perfect world I would upgrade to Scholar’s Gold which has all the commentaries, ancient texts, and language tools. But who has a thousand bucks?

1. Amazon Gift Cards. There is nothing better than being able to log on to Amazon and buy new books. Lots and lots of new books. That’s a slice of heaven.

Have you seen the new Michael Scott bobblehead? It talks.

And even though you like the smell of cooking bacon when you wake up, try not to cook your foot on your Foreman Grill!

But see, this one is raised on a pedestal. Less likely to cause “the injury.”

Michael: I enjoy having breakfast in bed. I like waking up to the smell of bacon, sue me. And since I don’t have a butler, I have to do it myself. So, most nights before I go to bed, I will lay six strips of bacon out on my George Foreman grill. Then I go to sleep. When I wake up, I plug in the grill. I go back to sleep again. Then I wake up to the smell of crackling bacon. It is delicious, it’s good for me, it’s the perfect way to start the day.

It’s a great show. I just hope the strike ceases and we can get more shows!!! Sorry I misquoted, “crackling bacon!”

You have an indoor grill. You have an outdoor grill. You have an ipod and various accessories. Can’t you just grill and listen to your ipod already?

    Oh, and you don’t cook.

I heard it might be ending by Christmas. But that’s just rumor. And I had to look it up.

Dad, that’s cool. Wal-Mart has a good exchange policy.

    Happy, I’m jealous.

My wife’s comments upon seeing this list “those are all stupid.” It’s going to be a cold Christmas for me.
