Good Neighbors
January 11th, 2008 | by Scott |Imagine a suburban professional quitting his job and opting to be totally self-sufficient. Imagine said professional deciding that the suburbs would be the ideal place to be self-sufficient.
With that premise you have one of the funniest sitcoms in TV history. It was originally called “The Good Life” in England but when it was transported to the US it was retitled “Good Neighbors.”
When we lived in Michigan some good friends introduced it to us. They would come over every Friday night and we would watch a couple of episodes.
The show is hilarious and plays well on the tension between the Goods who are trying to be completely self-sufficient and the Ledbetters who are completely given to the materialistic consumptive life-style.
If you love good British comedy then by all means, watch this show. It’s available on both Netflix and Blockbuster. Here is a small taste:

Here’s another vote for Good Neighbors — I loved watching it back in the 80’s (?) on PBS and recently re-discovered it at Netflix.

Off-Topic for this post, but more followup on Ron Paul. This was on Anderson Cooper 360.

Mr. Paul has too many close ties to these groups to satisfy me. Until recently, what was done to distance himself from these ideas? Jews don’t forget stuff like this.

This was one of my parents’ favorite shows. I was never really a big fan, but at the time, I was about 5-6 years old and didn’t really get it. Maybe I should give it another shot.

Belinda,
I’m not a Ron Paul apologist like I am for Obama, but this sh*t is weak too.
According to Wikipedia, Paul took “moral responsibility” for the newsletters as early as 2001

And like the Obama smear, I would argue that if you pay any attention to Paul himself you realize that, as offensive as the newsletters may be, they aren’t credible as an accurate assessment of his character.
