Family Updates
March 3rd, 2008 | by Scott |–Cassie has health insurance. Thanks to the good folks at ACU I was able to sign us up for a group medical plan. It’s not the best insurance in the world but at least we know that she is covered until there is some much needed reform on health insurance in America.
–We take Cassie for her next check-up on Friday. We are optimistic for further improvement in her arthritis. We see little to no complications at this point. She runs, jumps and plays full tilt quite a bit with no complaints of pain.
–My brother, Steve, was recommended for clemency again. This is the 4th time that he has been unanimously recommended for release. It will go before the governor of Arkansas in 30 days and he will then have 240 days to act. Hopefully, my parents will be able to gain an audience with the governor to plead Steve’s case.
–My house has been overtaken by Hannah Montana.

I’m so glad your daughter has some health insurance! That’s a big load off your shoulders huh? I have what is considered good insurance (as a government employee). I also have MS. MRIs are so expensive, even with insurance. Something has to give - good affordable health care should be available to everyone.

Since you mentioned MRIs, I thought I’d mention an sobering anecdote. I’m all for healthcare reform myself…but I have a good friend from France who mentioned MRIs as an example of one of the downsides of a more universal healthcare system: namely, MRI machines are apparently much harder to find in France than in the US.

good news.
and, hannah conquered my house last summer. apparently the plan is to take over the world…
I went to the Dr. on Friday. While I was waiting, a couple came in looking for someone to see the female. apparently they’d been to a number of clinics already, trying to find someone to see her. they stated up front that they had no insurance, and I could overhear them asking about the cost to have her seen (I have no idea of what she needed to be seen for.) shortly thereafter, they turned around and left, presumably on to another clinic.

Len, HSM is taking a bit of a backseat to Hannah and I’m thankful for that. I can tolerate Hannah Montana much more.
You can’t go wrong with a little Billy Ray…

Glad to know that Cassie is doing well. Congrats on the insurance. Ours is pretty good thankfully as Jill had to spend a night in the hospital for a transfusion (anemia). She’s fine now. Hope all is well up your way!
