Mission And Vision
March 31st, 2008 | by Scott |When I first arrived here in Ponca City the elders asked me to begin a vision casting process for our future. Their desire was to proceed like a church plant. Over the last few months I have been meeting with a “vision team” to discern our direction and short-term future. At the same time we have been going through a series of classes on what it means to be a more missional church.
Yesterday, we presented the work of the team to the congregation as a kickoff to where we plan on going from here. Here is what we presented:
CORE VALUES
Above all else we value the changing power of Christ
Christ changes us.
We worship, pray, and strive to be like Jesus.
Christ changes our relationships.
We are learning through scripture and the power of the Holy Spirit to imitate agape love with our families, children, and community.
Christ Changes Everything
MISSION STATEMENT
Seeking to be God’s love in our community
VISION STATEMENT
We envision a place:
• Where all people can meet Jesus and receive love, hope, forgiveness and salvation. (2 Corinthians 1:3-5)
• That becomes a greater presence in our community and reaching out to the precious souls around us. (Matthew 5:14)
• That will reach out to a lost world sharing the good news of God’s grace. (Matthew 28:18-20)
• That will focus on building disciples through the transforming power of small groups. (Acts 2:46)
• Where all of our members are continually growing into a fuller relationship with Jesus Christ becoming mature disciples. (2 Peter 3:18)
• Where every member is utilized in ministry according to their spiritual gifts. (Romans 12:6-8)
• Dedicated to active and passionate worship of Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 12:28-29)
• With specialized ministry areas for men, women, teens, and children. (1 Corinthians 9:19-22)
• In which the Bible is taught in a well-developed and organized education program. (Titus 2:1-8)
• That will bathe this church in prayer, continually seeking the Lord’s leading. (Ephesians 3:14-21)
Our Strategy
We aim to become a greater presence in Kay County as we seek to be God’s love in our community. Our goal is to go and make disciples by enabling people to meet Jesus where they are. Through our lives and examples we hope to provide a relationship where people can grow to love Jesus and ultimately follow Him.
We will strive each year to focus on each of these three areas with targeted ministry to assist the furthering of our goals:
Meet Jesus—Increasing Our Community Presence
Love Jesus—Worship and Children’s Ministry
Follow Jesus—Small Groups
Our Plan for the 2008—2009 School Year
1. Increase Our Community Presence
2. Nurture our Children’s Ministry
3. Invest in life-changing Agape Groups
4. Foster Our Assembly Times
