Parenting

July 23rd, 2008 | by Scott |

I am so tremendously blessed to be the father of three adorable girls. They bring more joy to my life than anything I have ever known.
They are so sweet, loving and beautiful that I get overwhelmed with the weight of my love for them.

And then there are times when I realize that I am in over my head. There are times when I’m not sure of the best way to respond and I don’t know how to be the parent they need to be.

I am at that stage with one of our three. She is pushing the boundaries of our patience and fully testing the hypothesis that her parents are idiots that will believe anything they are told.

I’m not sure that I am ready for this. And it is only just beginning.

Lord, give me wisdom.

Scott, you will need more than wisdom. You will need patience and and how to effectively administer tough love. This I learned too late in life in how to handle some situations.

Being a “dad” is one of the greatest things in this world. In fact I cannot think of a better one.

Dad, so true. Hopefully I can learn that.

Bobby, I agree. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, frustrations and all.

It only gets more fun . . . teenage girls are their own special joy . . . but then they turn into beautiful young women and you’re so proud.

Scott– I’m with you, brother. I pray that you will always be surrounded by folks who know how to encourage you and give you solid advice, when need be. I think God put together a winning team with you and Tracy.

(As an aside let me mention that I think unfortunately all too often folks love to kick you when you’re down and tell you you haven’t seen nothing yet. I’m tired of folks doing that. You’re being vulnerable and laying yourself out there. So what exactly do they think they’re accomplishing when they do that?)
