Hours of putting together toys and suffering grievous bodily harm opening that packaging has led to one tired individual.

At least I won my church fantasy football league. Congrats to Greg Kendall-Ball for winning my blog league.

For those of you who are such a positive presence on my blog I wish you a wonderful holiday season. My God bless you during this time with family and friends. It is heart-warming to know that I have this community that, even when we disagree, can be so encouraging and edifying. I truly appreciate those of you who embody that Spirit of Christ in my life.

I haven’t played in years because it’s too labor-intensive to set your line-up every day. That is why this will be a head-to-head league. You will have a game each week against another team in the league. Much less work with no less smack.

Who’s in? The draft will be Monday night at 9:30 Central. The season starts Tuesday. I have space for up to eleven teams. Leave a comment and I’ll send you an invite.

If Corey and Jason accept their invites that will put us at 6 teams. We need at least two more to have a competitive league. If you aren’t sure, just try it for fun. It won’t be that time consuming and several of us don’t really know what we are doing, so you might just win it all.
Besides, I’m surrounded by Republicans in this league. Help a fella out.

–I have taken some hits in the last few weeks for my nonviolent/pacifist leanings. I am preparing a series of posts that will deal with the objections to what I feel is the best way for the church to behave. I will begin by looking at some biblical arguments often proposed to discredit non-violence: war in the OT, Jesus in the temple, etc. I’m hoping for a reasoned discourse that takes into account all of the initial reactions against peace. I look forward to discussing it with you. Any thoughts before I launch into it?

–My church fantasy football team needs help. I own Shawn Alexander and Terrell Owens. It’s been a tough week. I also own Larry Fitzgerald. I was sweating the threat of Matt Leinart being handed the ball. That would have been a trifecta of bad news.

–Anybody ever taken the GMAT? I’m taking it next week and getting paid to do it. Any pointers or things to look out for. I’m expected to fail the test but it would be cool if I didn’t.

–What’s the right way to “do” church?

–And finally, this guy is everything I hate about politics: mean-spirited, ad-hominem and hyperbolic attacks on others. Check out the dreadful ads. “Jesse Helms is back, and this time he’s black.”

I’m not very pleased with the overall tone of my team.  Nothing like my church league.  Here’s how my team shapes up:

Round 1: Ronnie Brown–He’s ranked as high as #5 on some lists.  And he won’t be sharing the ball with that toker this year.

Round 2: Lamont Jordan–He’s a hoss but I’m not completely confident here.

Round 3: Willis McGahee–He knows that he is the best back in the league.  Too bad nobody agrees with him.  Still, he will pull in the yardage.

Round 4: Eli Manning–When he pulled that little stunt 3 years ago during the draft I said I would never select him.  I eat crow.

Round 5: Roy Williams–Hopefully he now has a quarterback who belongs in the NFL.

Round 6: Matt Jones–Drafted too early but I wasn’t letting Borland get him in both of my leagues.  With Jimmy Smith’s retirement he could be the man.  This is my heart pick.
Round 7: Dominick Rhodes–Here’s hoping he can hang on to his starting job.

Round 8: Joe Horn–Good middle-rounder.

Round 9: Laurence Maroney–Corey Dillon won’t last.  Here is your rookie of the year.

Round 10: Jerry Porter–Good pick here.

Round 11: Ben Roethlisberger–He probably won’t a great fantasy qb, but he makes a nice back-up.

Round 12: Mike Bell–Here’s hoping he hangs on to the starting job in Denver.

Round 13: Kevin Curtis–Should emerge as the #2 in StL.

Round 14: Phillip Rivers–Roll the dice.

Round 15: Marcus Pollard–I have to draft a TE.  That’s the rules.

Round 16: Cincinnati D–I need a D too.

Round 17: Sebastien Janikowski–Rule number 1 of fantasy football: never draft a kicker before the last round.

Again, I’m not all that jazzed here.   Compare this to my church league:
